In this position, the research nurse will focus on a clinical research study involving heart failure and innovative care strategies. The key responsibilities of the research nurse will include nursing care of subjects enrolled in selected clinical research studies and planning and implementing research studies according to the study protocol. The research nurse may be asked to work on new studies as they emerge or to perform coverage for other studies as needed. The research nurse will be involved in all aspects of implementation of these studies which may include study coordination responsibilities. At the delivery visit, the research nurse will collect data form the mother and her newborn and perform some newborn measurements. There will be interaction with the participants in an out-patient setting as well as following delivery while hospitalized. GO MOMs is a multi-center, comprehensive, longitudinal description of maternal glycemia over the course of pregnancy and will evaluate how glucose levels throughout pregnancy relate to traditional third trimester gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) screening and perinatal outcomes.

The nurse will primarily work on clinical research protocols involving pregnancy and diabetes-related studies, including Heterogeneity Informed Nutrition Therapy for Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (HINT-GDM), a study of glucose metabolism in pregnant women (the Study of Pregnancy Regulation of INsulin and Glucose, SPRING), and the Glycemic Observation and Metabolic Outcomes in Mothers and Offspring (GO MOMs) study. Under general direction of the Research Center Nurse Director, the Research Nurse is responsible for implementing specific aspects of designated research protocols as part of a research team.
